Which MOT class does my vehicle need?
Most cars and smaller vans need a Class 4 MOT. Vans with a design gross weight over 3,000kg (up to 3,500kg) need Class 7, and minibuses with 13 or more passenger seats need Class 5. Enter your registration when you book and we’ll offer the test your vehicle’s record says it needs.
How much is an MOT?
Class 4 £49.95, Class 5 £59.55, Class 7 £58.60. The DVSA sets a maximum fee for every class, and our prices are at or below it. The fee is for the test itself, whatever the result.
How early can I get my MOT done?
Up to a month (minus a day) before your current MOT runs out — and you keep the same renewal date. Not sure when yours is due? Use our free MOT check.
How long does an MOT take?
Most MOT tests take around an hour. Larger vehicles can take a little longer.
What happens if my vehicle fails?
You’ll get a refusal of an MOT certificate listing each defect, and we’ll talk you through them. You can drive the vehicle away only if your old MOT is still valid and nothing was marked ‘dangerous’ — otherwise it needs repairing first. Retests are charged in line with the DVSA’s rules, and we’ll tell you the cost before any retest.
